Jeff Rector, the award winning, writer, director, producer, best-selling author and working actor in Los Angeles, was intrigued by the award-winning radio drama “L.I.G.H.T.” (Living In God’s Hands Today) created by his father, Harlan Rector. Jeff has adapted this Angel Award winning radio drama into a dramatic narrative series to give hope to a world in desperate need of God’s loving touch.

 

It all started one casual morning when Harlan, a man full of faith, was awakened by a radio drama called, “Heartbeat Theater” coming from his clock-radio. Being instantly inspired to hear more and create his own radio drama telling true stories about God supernaturally works in everyday lives. He called the radio station to ask when they would broadcast the next episode? He was shocked when the guy said "they hadn’t broadcast that show in over seven years"! This was the first of many miracles God’s would manifest to bring L.I.G.H.T. to Life. 

Driving home from work it occurred to Harlan that his new radio drama needed a name and out of nowhere the word “LIGHT” reflected on his windshield. He thought, “LIGHT! That’s perfect! but what does it mean?” Instantly, God replied, “Living In God’s Hands Today!” Harlan was so overwhelmed he missed his turn and almost drove off the road onto a golf course!

God reveled himself on another occasion while Harlan was taking the commuter train to New York. Full of inspiration Harlan was quick to write down the lyrics that would become the theme song for “L.I.G.H.T.” Gods works in mysterious ways. A good friend gave Harlan the name of a guitar teacher, and former hard rock musician John Gerardi. When Harlan called him, he finds that John had just recently given up rock and roll and dedicated his life to spreading the word of God through his gift of Music.  Once Harlan showed him the lyrics to L.I.G.H.T., John said, “Wow…that’s interesting. I have some music I’ve been working on that doesn’t have any lyrics yet. Why don’t you come into my studio, and I’ll play it for you?” When John added his music to Harlan’s lyrics, astonishingly, they fit together so perfectly that not one word or note was changed. Another miraculous sign!

Harlan has a long history as a celerity voice-over Artist and knows all the top performers, sound engineers and technicians if the industry. He quickly realized his passion of creating and broadcasting L.I.G.H.T. Writing and producing 38 original dramatic episodes that were aired on Christian Radio Stations across the country. From there L.I.G.H.T. evolved into inspirational audio books that have been distributed in hundreds of prison libraries and ministries around the world.

 

Jeff was quick to come on board and add his expertise in developing L.I.G.H.T into an eight-episode, ongoing anthology series. The Pilot Episode is the true story of artist Bill Zdinak, who experienced a lifetime of miraculous and heavenly interventions.  Even at his lowest point, a desperate plea and promise to God, filled him with hope inspiration and an amazing burst of creativity. In a few short hours, he finished a powerful painting using the faces inspired by famous and ordinary people to comprise the world-renowned portrait of Jesus Christ called “In His Image.”
